Hearth & Hound is a small shop for people who share their home with a dog or a cat, and would rather not hide the dog bed when friends come round.
Why we started
A lot of pet gear is designed for the animal and forgotten by everyone else: loud colours, plastic that cracks, foam that flattens in a season. We wanted the opposite: pieces that look as if they belong in the room, made from materials that age well.
How we work
We keep the range small on purpose. Everything is made in small batches from natural materials: linen, wool, oak and beech, stoneware, waxed canvas and leather. Short runs mean every piece gets a proper look before it leaves, and anything that does not work gets changed before the next batch.
What we will not do
We will not call a material something it is not, or promise that anything is indestructible. Dogs chew and cats scratch. We would rather make things that can be cleaned, brushed or re-oiled, and tell you plainly how to look after them.
